The History of Our Pharmacy

When he opened Med-Save Pharmacy Legends in Spring, 2020, Med-Save Pharmacy Legends Owner/Pharmacist in Charge Justin Carroll felt as if he had “come home.”

That’s because North Lexington, where Med-Save Pharmacy Legends is located, is not only where Justin had his first job at a pharmacy, but also because that’s where he “fell in love” with his profession. “When I was just out of high school, I decided to try out a job at the Louden Avenue Rite Aid. I continued to work there while I studied pharmacy at UK, and that’s where I learned how to be a pharmacist,” he said.

Justin and his staff especially love working with the people of North Lexington. “We treat our patients like family, and they respond to that,” Justin said. “Our patients know that we work hard to give them the same level of personalized pharmaceutical care we give our own family members.”

In fact, the feeling of being part of a family is a big part of what made Justin decide to join the Med-Save Family of independent pharmacies located throughout Kentucky. Justin is proud to be part of a family of independent pharmacies and pharmacists who are committed to providing personalized care to communities.

“My staff and I encourage anyone who lives in the area to stop by or give us a call,” he said. “We’d love to talk with them and share the many ways we can help them, by helping them understand their medication therapy, answering questions about insurance co-pays and even, whenever possible, how to save money on their prescriptions.”

Meet our Pharmacists

Justin Carroll, PharmD

Justin Carroll, Pharmacist in Charge

I graduated from the University of Kentucky School of Pharmacy in 2015 and I am married to Courtney Carroll, a pharmacist at a Med-Save Family of Pharmacies store (Sopers Family Drug) in Carlisle, Kentucky.

As a kid, I always wanted to work in healthcare, so it seemed natural, after I graduated high school, for me to take a job at a drug store. While I studied pharmacy at the University of Kentucky, I continued to work at that store—as a pharmacy tech—and I discovered that pharmacy truly is the work I am meant to do. I loved the work, and I loved the patients I met and served while I was at work. That store is no longer around—but it happened to be located just a mile or so from Med-Save Pharmacy Legends. By opening and owning my own store in North Lexington, I have come full circle—to a place that feels like home, and to patients that feel very much like family to me.

My team and I are proud to be a part of the Med-Save family of independent pharmacies, and we are determined to provide the people of this area with the absolute best pharmaceutical care available.

Tina Taylor, Pharmacy Technician

I’ve been a Pharmacy Technician for over 20 years. I started at Med-Save Pharmacy Legends on the day it opened, March 30, 2020. Before that, I worked at some of the “big box” pharmacies, and I can say from experience that there is a big difference between that type of pharmacy and Med-Save. At corporate pharmacies, we worried a lot about numbers and dollars—we had to get a certain number of patients, sign them up for certain programs, etc. Here, we worry about people and how we can help them.

I’ve been a Pharmacy Technician for over 40 years, and I started here right after they opened in early 2020. I worked for Rite Aid for years before they closed, and I am amazed at how much better it is here at Med-Save. I love that I have time to interact with patients here—you just can’t do that at a “big box” pharmacy. One of my favorite things to do is to let my customers know about all of the personal services and benefits we have—that they won’t find anywhere else.
